Rooted in faith, grown in community.
First Fruits Foundation began with a simple conviction: that the first and finest of what our land produces belongs to the most vulnerable among us.
A foundation being formed, not yet filed.
First Fruits Foundation is in its early development stage — our 501(c)(3) paperwork is being prepared even as we gather the first harvests. We are building relationships, serving families, and preparing for long-term growth now. As our legal status becomes official, every page and option will be updated.
How we began
In the rich alluvial soil along the Bayou Teche, generations of Louisiana families have grown more than they could ever eat alone. First Fruits Foundation was born from that abundance — and from the ancient scriptural practice of offering the first fruits of the harvest back to God and to the neighbor in need.
What started as a few growers setting aside their best produce has become a network of churches, farmers, volunteers, and local businesses working together to feed our parish with dignity. We rescue surplus food from stores, preserve seasonal harvests before they're lost, and pack weekly blessing baskets that carry not just food — but the message that no neighbor is forgotten.
We believe generosity is a discipline to be cultivated, not a moment of charity. So we steward every seed, every jar, and every basket with integrity, transparency, and care.
Our faith-forward identity
The first fruits belong to the Lord — and to the neighbor.
The practice of first fruits is older than any of us. It teaches that the very first and finest of what we produce is set apart — not kept for ourselves, but given as an act of trust and gratitude. We carry that practice into every basket we pack.
